Scenes From The Newser Party

By Bixyl Shuftan

On June 22, the Second Life Newser had it's anniversary party. It was held at the Happy Vixen beach club.

Although the actual anniversary date was June 5, the party couldn't be held the following Saturday because of the Relay Weekend. Saturday June 15 was out because it was Father's Day Weekend. So the party would be held later in the month.

DJ Snowbuns played the music for the two hour event, with Isa as her hostess.

My SL wife Charlee was going to DJ for part of the time, but had some trouble. She did manage to make the party.

DrFran Babcock, who used to write for the Newser, dropped by to say hello.

DJ Jenny of Club Cutlass also showed up, as a darkfur Star Trek Catian.

Nydia, the owner of the Happy Vixen, and a longtime supporter/contributor to the paper, also came by.

There would be a contest (come as you are) with a 1500 Linden cash prize. It was won by Kamida Delec.

Sorry to say Gemma Cleanslate and Dancerina Starlight couldn't make the party due to events in real life.

I would have a few things to say at the end, "While I may be the face of the paper, it takes a number to keep it running. There's the team behind it, Gemma and the other writers over the years, longtime supporters such as Nydia, my wife over here, who puts up with me as I write away, and who's supported me to no ends." She grinned and I kissed her , "Thank you for putting up with me, my angel. ... And of course thank you the readers, without whom the paper would have no reason to (be)."

Nydia would have this to say in response, "Bix, you are too modest,  you built the Newser up from scratch. and it has built up it's own momentum, and you are the single biggest driving force behind it. the writers write for you out of love,  but the readers came for your content. and you have guided that content up to where you are today. Thank you for giving us a place to read about what happens here, not just in our community but the entire SL world and MORE."

It was quite a party, with lots of fun held by all.

Once again, special thanks to the Newser's supporters, and the readers
