The "Eggfigy" Burn

 *
By Bixyl Shuftan

Lately things have been more than a little complicated for Second Life's Burners. A tribute to their early days, Burn ONe, turned into their gathering place when the leaders of the Burn2 team shut down the Burning Man Deep Hole sim for what they stated was a temporary time period.

On Monday July 11, a few of the Burners decided to lighten things up, literally, by constructing something to burn and set it afire. This was a giant egg-shaped effigy, or "eggfigy" as it came to be called.

It was made by Jeff Olhoeft. I would later hear from him, "I build it last Easter when for some egg themed antics on the Burn2 region. Brought it back out to the beach for fun."

"Eggfigy burn in a few minutes. (teehee) Come to the beach."

I went there, along with a number of Burners. Someone asked, "Can't remember, does this build explode?" And the puns started, "No, but it gets scrambled." "Good, no hard hat required." "Not exactly, although does tend to toss embers far." "Yes, you're egg-xactly right."

And before long, we noticed smoke coming from inside, "Does anyone smell smoke?"

And then, the underside went aflame, "Fire fire fire."

The fire slowly worked its way up.

And the whole structure was afire, "Smoked omellette?"

Panning inside, it was an inferno in there, "and hear the crackling."

As the fire blazed on, the structure started to become charred and brittle.

Then pieces started to flake off.

And as time went on, more parts were flying off.

Some pieces were getting a little close to the Burners.

There were more egg puns from Mrs. Mia Wallace (Mia Quinote), "Terreggific. EGG-cellent!"

Before long, pieces had scattered in all directions, "I'd say this event went, 'over easy'." "Yeah, getting past hard boiled now too." Mia remarked, "Everyone 'scrammbled' here very quickly."

They ended up redoing the egg burn.

One guy took a "Bobcat" and moved burning pieces away.

Some of them into the water.

Before long, not much was left.

Not everyone stood around. Some were dancing.

For the Burners, it's been a turbulent time as there's been some trouble behind the scenes. But events like these allowed them to put aside their worries and relax for a little while.

Wonder Egg Hunt

By Gemma Cleanslate

Saturday I popped over to the Relay for Life event that was held by Team  RFL Fighting Sunflowers. It was an Easter Egg hunt in the Wonderland.  Jesie Ja'Nae West (Jesie Janick) did the décor and it was delightful!

Starting in 5mins, 9am-1pm slt there will be an egg hunt benefiting Relay For Life. This is an event you do not want to miss so get your baskets ready for some amazing prizes and photo opportunities with your favorite characters from the beloved Story.  So bring your family and friends. Adults are welcome to hunt eggs also! To get to wonderland you have to start at the rabbit hole!

Alice was there as were a cast of characters from the story of Alice in Wonderland. I even saw Peter Pan and had tea at the table with him. The Red Queen was overseeing it all. There were a myriad of kids running around in the grasses looking for tiny eggs with prizes in them. I could only find one egg and that was by accident as I saw a someone else find it. The Information Station was quaint and held many pointers about cancer.

Alice was taking pictures with the kids. I got a kick out of one child who announced her dad was single very proudly. And then suggested that Alice would make a really nice wife for him and a new mommy. Got to love the SL kids! Everyone was having a wonderful time and I enjoyed the visit.

The Fighting Sunflowers Team has raised almost 44,000 Lindens inworld as of now, and has so far collected a total of close to 120,000 Lindens in total.

Relay for Life: "Stand Up Against Cancer" And Harmony For Hope's Egg Decorating Contest

The weekend of Saturday April 11 and Sunday April 12 had a number of Relay events, from music and dance parties to swimming parties, and more. Yours truly had time to check out only a couple. One that got my attention was a stand-up comedy act by Lauren Weyland, one of Second Life's most noted comedians. The event was for the Hoot For a Cure Team, captained by Catz Jewell, and was at 3PM SL time.

Hoot for a Cure proudly Presents, Stand Up Against Cancer Comedy Review, Featuring: Lauren Live, Doc Grun, wyvern Blazewood, jwheels, Catboy, April 11, 2015, 3pm SLT. Please keep scripts and huds to a minimum. This show is in voice. Turn sound on.

The event was in voice, so the chat was almost all responses to the comedians, which was mostly chuckles and the occasional counter-joke. Among the things Lauren herself joked about was the Avi Choice Awards, suggesting perhaps there should be awards given out for whom had the most alts, who had the most convincing gender-bender, and other categories that drew chuckles.

Besides laughing at Second Life's shortcomings, Lauren and other comedians also poked fun at Hillary Clinton announcing her run for her party's nomination for the Presidency.

Lauren was followed by Catboy, whose colorful pink outfit was a contrast to her usual dark garb.

Wyvern's act was the most provocative, skirting the event's PG limit, and the comedienne herself apologizing on occasion for crossing the line.

Doc Grunn's act involved a prop, a tablet with a freebie Siri clone he called "Siriously." But the ap in action had him going, "Seriously, Siriously?" much to the chuckles of the audience.

After the event,  JerryDon Lane told the Relay group, "Thank you so much.....over 10 grand was raised for a great cause."

Lauren Weyland performs regularly every Tuesday evening at 5PM in her venue in the Cookie sim.

The weekend was also the occasion for Team Harmony of Hope's Egg Decorating Contest.

The contest was open to entries all day Saturday and Sunday up to Noon, the builders paying a 200L fee apeice. Voting began at 5PM SL time.

There were a number of entries, each involving an egg in some form, some more than one.

People voted by donating money to a kiosk next to the exhibit.

Builds had a 35 prim limit, and could only be about 10 in height at most.

The winner was Cuddly Waffle, whose "Minion" egg got $7000 in donations for her team, and the most of all the entries.

Cuddly was "so excited" to have won, twirling around and jumping around and got lots of cheers from Relay chat.

These were just two of the many events that weekend, of which the next one promised more Relay fun.

Go Relay!
