Various Second Life Happenings In October

By Gemma Cleanslate

I have had several very busy weeks in sl. As a Ranger at the Burn2 event most of my time was spent on the playa helping. There was one final celebration that included anyone connected to the event in any way, Leads, artists, Dj’s, Rangers, Greeters, and visitors. It was great fun!

One more event will take place and that is the Skin Burn. It will take place on October 29 at 12 and 6. “What is Skin Burn? The BURN2 Skin Burn is a decompression event that features an “encore” Man Burn, usually 1-2 weeks after the closing of the annual BURN2 event held in late October. We Burn the Man again, with everyone in their best low-lag form. We are challenged to get wildly creative with it, too!” More information will be sent before the day.

I managed to get away to attend the installation ceremony and ball for the newly appointed Ambassador for the Jeogeot Continent. Everyone in attendance sat on bleachers outside the Embassy to witness Abnor Mole hand over the key to Bel ,,,, Bel addressed the audience saying,

"Almost 3 years ago I found the BBB and with it came Boo, Sun, North, and then me. Boo setting up office in a houseboat.

Then it was Fi’s house and from there to a cabin and then to a stilts home. Then to where it is now. Lots of moving and lots of memories.I am more than a little bit excited at being given the opportunity to be a member of the BBB again...good old memories!I want to thank Everyone for allowing me to return as the Ambassador of Jeogeot. Lots of new faces and identities for me to get to know As Ambassador of Jeogeot I want to integrate the things that Jeogeot has to offer and is known for. And to integrate the things that Bellisseria has to offer to all of Second Life. I shall continually update new adventures and areas of interest, while bringing to Jeogeot the larger-than-life areas of interest of the rest of Second Life"

Everyone offered congratulations to Bel and we then adjourned to the party area that was set up next to the Embassy property and had a wonderful time dancing and chatting. The BBB (Bellisseria Bureau of Bureaucracy) is the sponsor of all the embassies and ambassadors across the continents of SL.

I did get to two pre-Halloween parties in Bellisseria also after the Burn2 closed. DJ Bela hosted one and DJ Far hosted another. My next project is to get to see some of the spooky places set up before Halloween is over.

Our dear Hammies have set up a wonderful Hammieween at the Bellisseria Fairgrounds. Stop over to check it out and see if you can attend a party there too! There are games and a hunt going on.

The Heterocera Embassy Opening, And A Glance At The SLEA

By Gemma Cleanslate

My busy week getting back to business and fun was a mixture of events I could get to. Eduardo Minghuang dj and owner of Cuban Cafe has post blockade Cuba featuring “Latin tunes & dances: BALLROOM SAMBA SALSA MAMBO MERENGUE FLAMENCO LAMBADA BACHATA KIZOMBA RUMBA TANGO! Also beaches, Cuban coffeehouse & Revolution Museum.”
The venue is open on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays.. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Friskies/19/240/22

Romie Vella invited me to this event and I am glad I got there. The visitors were both Spanish and English and all had a great time listening and dancing to the tunes.

I went over to SLEA for the first time in a long time. I received a notice that the Art Walk had new artists exhibiting there . Most of the artists were new to me and so interesting. It is a very eclectic grouping and each installation is one that takes some meditation to explore the theme.

I was taken with Bryn Oh’s exhibit. It is so different from her usual story lines. I walked into her garden of flowers and was immediately surrounded by giggles! It was so pleasant to walk through I had to do it several times enjoying the laughs of the flowers I touched as I walked. She was the only artists I was really familiar with .

Another build that was fun to walk on was the particle show. By walking on tiny islands set in a pond I was able to activate particles nearby. The artist ,Tyrehl Byk, calls it The Ego’s Many eyes. Have some fun there. There are other installations to explore and enjoy. I will let you have the pleasure of understanding the artists and their work. Just walk along the path , barefoot if you like as Tansee suggests . It is a circle that takes you by each exhibit . In front of each you can pick up a notecard that tells you the background and experience of each artist in real life and SL. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLEA7/128/67/23

Saturday there was installation of a new Ambassador for the continent of Heterocera. Daria Raynier received her key from Suη (Dark Sunflower), a BBB official, since Abnor was was not able to attend.

Yuriko Kimura (Rydia Lacombe) Hiraya mayor greeted the audience and Dariah as the new Ambassador and wished her well in her new position. There were several other Ambassadors attending.

Dariah graciously thanked her and made a short and sweet speech , “Last Saturday I celebrated my 13th rezday. Now I am pleased and have the honor to contribute to our communities. Now in a new position as ambassador I did a lot of travel things in the past. And I am happy to do new things for Heterocera and Bellisseria now.Thank you all for coming. We will no go to the music and fun part of the day …”

And the party began with music by Mandy Dorfler ,known from the grid-wide famous Harlow's Women Club. That was the end of my week.

More Activities With The BBB

By Gemma Cleanslate

It has been a dizzying week with the Bellisserian Bureau of Bureaucracy. It is hard to keep up with all the activities going on! Tuesday There was a Meet and Greet in the Gallery where there was a showing art pieces in an exhibit called The Art of Travel. Amanda Tamatzui hosted with Dave (Lord Junibalya). There were many photos of travel places and ways to get there in the Gallery.

Michiel Bechir was the artist of the day. He spoke about his early life in art and his love of drawing from an early age and created some Comics in his teens and recently found some of them .They might appear somewhere in sl soon. He spoke of his love of travel and interacted with the audience answering questions.

I attended a party also at the Fairgrounds where Gιʂҽʅʅҽ Sƚɾҽҽƚҽɾ-LαƈσɱႦҽ (Giselle Lacombe) was the DJ and played great tunes for the attendees. Everyone is having such a good time . There is an ongoing attempt to get all the special visa stamps for this one week. As soon as people arrive at an event they start looking for the staff on the list I am doing well so far. It is not easy to capture a stamp from a dancer doing a stomping dance.

Wednesday The continent Sartori opened its embassy. Now all the continents have their own Embassy and Ambassador. It is similar in design but the Ambassador ,Bijoux Barr, art aficionado   has set her imprint on it . There is a marvelous Japanese garden outside the Embassy building. There was a meet and greet held there before the ceremony . Abnor Mole arrived and the ceremony was held on the porch of the Embassy. The Honorable Ambassador accepted the key and promised to bring the Continent residents and Bellisseria closer together .

After the doors opened we took a look at the office that reflected the Ambassador herself then teleported over to the Fairgrounds for another great party . This party had Bsukmet Stormcrow as the entertainment who gave us some beautiful haunting music of original composition. It was a delightful party with many in attendance. Everyone turned out in their best formal wear.

Thursday morning many of the staff were back on the Fairgrounds to give those still hunting for special stamps a chance to grab them. I was happy to get two more. I am still hunting for one more elusive staff member with only three more days to get it! There was to be balloon tour but it was postponed and replaced by another boat tour with Captain Cʅαɯ Sƚɾҽҽƚҽɾ-LαƈσɱႦҽ (Claw Streeter) taking out a large boat and Yuki following him with a smaller one taking passengers who still needed to do the tour. I skipped that since I had completed it already. On to the rest of the week!

Bellisseria Rings In The New Year, Two Mainland Embassies

 *
By Gemma Cleanslate

I spent the last night of the old year end party at the Fairgrounds on Bellisseria. This is the beginning of a tradition I think.

Bela Tolsen hosted and dj’ed at “ Réveillon is the Brazilian NYE party traditionally celebrate by the sea shore, wearing white (meaning peace) and making wishes to Yemanjá (a powerful sea goddess from the Brazilian African-based religion known as Umbanda or Candomblé),” she told us.

The venue was a sea of white while everyone danced to the beat of the music. There was champagne and fireworks and it was a marvelous end to the year we would like to forget.

I missed the opening of the third Embassy which took place on December 22 on the continent of Nautilus where Abnor Mole handed the key over to Freddie Harrington, the new ambassador there. I have to talk to Freddie when I get the chance to hear what he has in mind for sharing Nautilus. As usual following the ceremony a formal party took place. I was dressed in festive red and left my avatar there earlier so I could be on time but real life took over and I did not make it back.

I took a tour when I did get there and a picture of Freddie in his office. Stop over to see it on a hill above Route 12.

I did make it to the Grand Opening of the Embassy on Gaeta which took place January 5th. It was an elegant affair with Abnor Mole handing over the key to Fiona Jogiches, Ambassador. I stepped into the Embassy after to see the décor. Most of the Embassies are similar in style with local maps and information for visitors on the walls. The offices of the ambassadors have touches of the individual ambassadors.

On my way to the party in a building at the rear the Embassy I had my first look at the classy black embassy car parked there.

The party was fun as usual as the attendees celebrated the day. I asked Fiona why she became ambassador and her answer was, “I became an Ambassador after being inspired by others. I've spent a lot of time living on mainland long before Bellisseria was even a twinkle in Patch's eyes, and whilst I love Bellisseria, mainland offers something special too. “

She has plans to have tours of the continent and is becoming more familiar with the many special places and activities now.

This embassy is located on Route 7. There are three more Embassies to have Ambassadors on the Mainland and all should be having openings by the end of February if all goes well. To make a visit to the Gaeta Embassy take http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//20/85/36 .
