RFL Sunbeamer Carnival

 By Bixyl Shuftan

On Saturday May 23, The Relay for Life's Sunbeamer team would hold it's Carnival event. Taking place in Sunlight Bay, there were a number of activities.

There were rides such as the "Tornado."

There were Shockwave's Bumper cars, with an added challenge this time. There was a hand cannon giver that a co-rider could shoot.

Take too many hits, your car would turn into a barbecue.

There was a small roller coaster.

There was the Bicycle Blimp Challenge, which was a race against the clock.

And many others such as getting launched into the air from a cannon ...

 Bouncing off a target

And then plummeting down, hopefully with a parachute from the giver next to the cannon (or an older one from previous years).

But the main attraction was the music. DJ Cynthia would start things off at 9AM SL time.

The dancing to her tunes, which included some videogaming songs from the 80s, and a number of jokes in response, went on to 11.

After an hour break to enjoy the games and maybe visit the restroom, at Noon, DJ Primi Giles-Harding-Ronin, representing Team ACTS, got up on stage.

And more people dropped by, including Wildstar Beaumont, who has some pictures of the Fantasy Faire on his Flickr.

At 3PM SL time was DJ Kayla and the Roos, who this time arrived via Cynthia Farshore's balloon.

The Roos dancing as Kayla spun her tunes.

Including a Bowie song, which had an effect on one Roo.

The event would raise tens of thousands of Linden dollars for the three teams. The Sunbeamers themselves are as of the writing of this article a little over 1,215,500 Lindens, not far from Ruby level.

Go ACTS, Go Roos, Go Sunbeamers, Go Relay!

Relay Event at Bellisseria Fairgrounds This Weekend

By Gemma Cleanslate

This weekend will be very busy on the Bellisseria Continent at the Fairgrounds. It is a long weekend extending through March 17 ,and a continuation of efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society begins. Actually it began Thursday at 12 when Ąŗį Ąņãţįņę (Ariradel Bowenford) and Ąđãм Ąņãţįņę (Adam Spark) took to the stage to spin tunes for the party.  Lots of people and dinkies, and other critters showed up  including the elusive Slenderman.

Who is he???? That is the question, “ The Bellisseria Slenderman is the enigmatic presence of the collective fears of all Bellisserians.  His origins are unknown but he was first sighted at Campwich Forest by a group of party goers.  Bellisserians are advised not to approach the Slenderman.  He likely will not interact with you, but your fears may increase his power.”

He just shows up. If you want to see more of him check this out.  https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/450169-bellisseria-slenderman-sightings/

There will be boatride tours of the areas around the Fairgrounds on Sinemax’s "SINAS PARTY BARGE. I took it and since it was the first one of the day so was rather quiet and I got the royal treatent . There was just Sinemax, MagnificentMax  and me. I chose to sit rather than dance and am glad I did . We lost MagnificentMax at a sim crossing the bay waters, never to be seen again. He just fell off the boat.

I hopped on a hot air balloon with Roman Kiranov which I assume will be giving rides during the week. He was just setting up the tour which was interesting in itself. I will try it out again .

All across the fairgrounds are activities to get involved in, Shops offering wares for sale all proceeds headed for the Relay for Life, including amusement games, (try the bungee jumping. I did)  parties, and more parties and activities I still need to explore. I saw a kissing booth. You are all invited to come see the fairgrounds and join in with the citizens of Bellisseria and Relay folk and have a lot of fun.  This will take you to the entrance to the fairgrounds near the party boat launch area where boats will be taking off every hour on the hour beginning mostly at 2ish.  Lots to do on the fairgrounds while you wait...

Summer Fair at Aero Pines Park

By Gemma Cleanslate

Aero Pines Park, a favorite place for many of us, has a Summer Fair and Carnival in Equus hosted by the Aero Pines Park Rangers and the Bravo Carnival Company. Every fun game that you have ever played, and every ride you have ever enjoyed in Second Life seems to be here for your vacation fun if you are having a staycation like many of us. Take your friends and have a ball!

On the way in, grab a mallet and test your strength at the High Striker game. There are lots of arcade games on the midway to try, some very familiar like Whack a Mole. One game I had never seen called Zombie Meltdown was great fun. Out in the rodeo field I saw someone riding a bucking bull for points. I will skip that. There is a fast carousel, a scary roller coaster, bumper cars, and an enormous ferris wheel, my favorite ride, along with some others you will recognize.  Take a walk through the Fun House, that is a real maze. Good luck!

Wandering around all the sims of Aero Pines is always so interesting no matter when you go. I took the long long ride from the sky isle down the water slide and right into the ocean! When you land, you are near the bumper boats so have some fun there too.  Do not miss the log flume ride!!! Rezz a log and jump in and you will be on the journey of your life. The log is hauled up inclines and slides down the water ways, wending its way to the end.

Outside the entrance to the carnival you will find the brochure and a list of the many teleports you can take to various areas of the Park that are always available. I saw some people  riding horses on the beach not too far from the carnival. Rezz a demo horse and ride the trails. I do that often. I also found some new little golf cars to rezz and took a ride around before I had to leave. Be sure to read the directions (laughter).

Just get to the Carnival before the end of August! Enjoy!
